Nora Buttimer
A West Cork native, Nora Buttimer has always had a great interest in art from childhood.
While working at UCC she took many hobby courses and attended summer schools, both here and abroad, most notably to The St Ives School of Painting. She also worked with Ms Jean Parry Williams (animal artist) in Gloucestershire UK.
Biological science has many visual aspects including animal illustration, colour changes in chemical reactions, and the observation of animal and plant life under a microscope. Prior to more formally studying Fine Art, Buttimer has had biological illustrations published in scientific papers and also received awards for Logo Design.
Taking a career break in 2001 to pursue a course in Art Craft and Design at Colaiste Stiofan Naofa in Cork, she greatly expanded her knowledge of the many different art forms. This initiated her decision to follow the path of Fine Art, later graduating from the Crawford College of Art with a degree in Painting in June 2010.
We have a wide variety of Nora's work here in The Boathouse Gallery, Kinsale.
